Here's Looking At You KidWhile in the Chewore South in Zimbabwe in late June 2022 I spent a couple of days on the Zambezi and hippos popped their heads up in curiosity as we made our way on the river. Their rough bellows and noise of them munching on the camp grass lulled me to sleep most nights. Their bulkiness on land turns to suppleness as they glide through the water, their hide glistening in the sunlight.

£195 | Black -winged Stilt ReflectingWhile in the Chewore South in Zimbabwe in late June 2022 I spent a couple of days on the Zambezi. This black-winged stilt was in the shallows early in the morning. I was standing on the raised bank almost directly overhead which made for an ideal shot. At first sight, their wings appear dense black but they have a blue/green sheen that catches the light. Their long pink legs seem a little incongruous.

£150 | Flying to RoostI live in Sutton -in- the -Isle, in the Fens, which is raised above a tidal flood plain. Periodically we are flooded and many roads closed. This area is known as The Gault due to its thick clay and is a haven for waterfowl, especially Lapwing,Teal,Hooper and Mute swans. As the temperature drops in the evening, the mist starts to rise and it is easy to imagine how travelers in the past could lose their way.
Painted using alla prima technique.

Spring Willows & DeerBlackthorn or Sloe in blossom and the fresh green of the willow trees in bud along the banks of the Great River Ouse near Houghton in Huntingdon created layers of reflections and shadows on the sunlit water.
A Roe deer is on alert as it comes to the water's edge to drink

£150 | Houghton MeadowsThis slow-flowing small river is an ox-bow, meandering through the ancient Houghton Meadows, a habitat for otters, many species of insects including the distinctive hairy dragonfly, and insect catching birds particularly terns and kingfishers. Even on summer days, it is a place of peace and interest. I have seen seals that have swum up from the Wash here also.
Painting size 18 " x 24 "
£150 | 'Far Horizons' Beau Vallon, SeychellesBack in 83 when I arrived to live in the granitic islands of Seychelles, the grey heron was a very rare sight, and since it is not a migratory bird it subsequent colonization of the islands is a mystery.
I love this particular spot at the end of the beach as it is very secluded. The island on the horizon is Silhouette with North island just visible to the right.

Viaduct ,River Goyt, New Mills, DerNew Mills had to be one of my favourite visits of 2019.
I stayed in the Fireman's Cottage close to the Old Mill and on the River Goyt 2nd week of August when the Torres Walk had just been reopened after the floods. The River was still very high and a dramatic sight and sound

£175 | The Old Wooden Gate, DerbyshireAn Oil painting of a dilapidated wooden gate overlooking the rolling hillside and small town of Hathersage
The patchwork of small fields is usually divided by dry stone walls, some dating back to the Bronze and Iron Age.
This painting drew reference from a photo I took at the top of a hil overlooking Hathersage, with Shatton Moor in the distance.
Painting size 16 " x 20 "
£175 | Reaching for the SkiesThis canvas is inspired by photos I took in Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens. The quality of light under this hot January sun had a special luminosity probably due to the high elevation. The long-stemmed daisies are in different phases of opening, many buds waiting to burst open. They reach for the high clouds, their upturned faces soaking up the light.
The sides of this canvas are painted blue
The painting size is 18" x 24 "
